Census on Computer Education in schools: An action to be imitated by Argentina

According to a Web site of Chile, Latercera.com, the results of this research will be useful for designing programs and policies that improve the integration of technology in education .

The census study more relevant to national level in terms of educational computing , is conducting Links , Ministry of Education of Chile, collecting information of all subsidized schools provide primary and secondary education in the country.

The results will be in 2010, which will be a reference for future policy formulation in matter. The research was commissioned to Adimark GfK in coordination with Institute of Computer Education at the University de la Frontera.

The idea is to measure the development presented by schools throughout the country, in different dimensions addressed by the policy of educational computing, settling well in the first national study with a view to generating Digital Development Index (IDD).

an ongoing concern

To extract the data, it is conducting a census to collect information on all subsidized schools in the country, and a sample of individuals paid applying a pattern of infrastructure registration information and communication technologies (ICTs), and questionnaires to principals and ICT coordinators.

Specifically, the study will collect information relating to infrastructure (computer lab and others, access to ICT at home) computational resources (computational resources per unit, local network and Internet access, Web and email, features hardware and software), digital educational resources (amount of resources digital education, use of educational resources).

The Links director, Didier de Saint Pierre noted that for the country, the use and appropriation of ICT is far from being a matter of future concern. On the contrary, is a matter of ongoing discussion based on the needs of today's world where technology is increasingly present in all areas of human activity. In this regard, "the results of this research, which will be in 2010, will be useful to support the design of programs and policies that help improve the integration of technology in education, always with the aim of moving towards higher quality education.

IMPROVE MOTIVATION

"A proper public policy in this area should focus on how the Chilean we are trained to take advantage of the infinite world of opportunities offered by digital technology. In other words, we might say that successful long-term public policy objectives should focus on how children, adults and young-at heart, civil society in general are facing the digital skills gap and the ability to inhabit the cyberspace, for example, "De Saint Pierre.

In this scenario, the director explained that there are links growing evidence that new technologies not only improve students' motivation, but which give teachers additional resources to meet different learning styles present in a classroom.

For Didier de Saint Pierre, the above brand new seal of links: the search for innovative educational responses to the challenges of quality modern education, based on the potential use of technologies digital education.

Currently, the studio is located in the data collection phase, which is being executed by Adimark GfK, in coordination with Institute of Computer Education at the University de la Frontera.

ACTION TO ARGENTINA should imitate the

would be nice if this type of undertaking will be held in Argentina in order to know the national scope of the integration of new technologies in schools across the country. One such study clearly reveal the current status of schools in Argentina in terms of educational quality and level of implementation of new technological resources as learning tools.
